Wind Flow Around Building & Wind Loading
How the wind flows around the building is a consideration that JPF take into account, local conditions can have an effect on the overall result of wind load acting on the facade.
Fetch - Large areas that are unobstructed like the sea can cause the windload to be higher than normal.
Funneling - Surrounding buildings can cause the wind to accelerate in an effect known as funneling.
Vortcies - A vortex can be formed given the right circumstances and can transfer load in the form of turblance or buffeting.
Topography - The local terrain height and angle can also change the windload applied to the facade.
