BS8118 states how aluminium can be used as a structural component and all JPF prodcuts comply with this. Loads taken into consideration when constructing facades are:
Dead loads in the form of self weight of frame and glass, possibly a snow load may be taken if the glazing is horizontal or pitched, the snow load may become a live load when it begins to melt.
The main live load is that of the wind pressure this is a cyclic loading and can be calculated using BS6399, we may also take into account accidental loadings, service loadings and imposed loads.
JPF facades are desinged so that progressive collapse is prevented in the case of an accident.
